If you desire a more youthful-looking facial appearance but don’t like the idea of cosmetic surgery, an injectable facial rejuvenation treatment may be right for you. Injectables are among the many facial rejuvenation treatments available in Chicago at the prestigious medical practice of board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Elias Gikas.

Since every patient is unique, the best injectable for one patient may not be ideal for another, so Dr. Gikas creates personalized treatment plans for each of his patients. His go-to options for natural-looking facial rejuvenation results with cosmetic injectables include:

Botox® was the first FDA-approved neuromodulator available for cosmetic treatments. This versatile injectable is best known as a wrinkle relaxer. It is also used for a wide range of additional cosmetic applications, as well as to treat medical conditions like migraines and excessive sweating.

Botox® works to minimize dynamic facial wrinkles by temporarily freezing the muscles that cause them. Frown lines, horizontal forehead wrinkles, crow’s feet, smile lines, and bunny lines are examples of dynamic wrinkles that can be smoothed away with Botox®.

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is essential for maintaining firm, plump, youthful-looking skin, as it works to lock-in moisture. As the body ages, its natural production of HA declines, and we start to notice folds, creases, drooping, and lost volume. Fortunately, HA fillers like Restylane® can be injected to replace lost volume, restoring fuller, more lifted facial contours and filling out age lines to rejuvenate your look.

Biostimulatory fillers work to increase volume over time by stimulating collagen production. Radiesse® is Dr. Gikas’ go-to biostimulatory filler for non-surgical facial sculpting. This biocompatible, soft tissue filler contains calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA), which is found in bones and teeth.

When injected by a qualified medical provider like Dr. Gikas, Radiesse® can be a great option for minimizing fine lines in the lower face, particularly those between the mouth and nose. Radiesse® can also be used to augment the lips. This injectable fills and plumps in the short-term while rebuilding the skin’s underlying structure through increased collagen production for long-term improvements.

Injectables or Facelift Surgery: Which Is Right for Me?

Men and women of many ages can benefit from injectable facial sculpting and anti-aging treatments. If your aesthetic concerns include mild skin laxity, fine lines, wrinkles, and/or lost volume, you may be a good candidate for non-surgical facial rejuvenation treatments with Botox® or fillers. However, patients with more advanced signs of aging, such as severe sagging, are likely better candidates for facial plastic surgery, such as a facelift or brow lift.

How Long Do Results Last?

The longevity of your injectable facial sculpting procedure results will depend on the product(s) used and your body’s unique response to the treatment. Botox® results typically last three to four months. Patients can enjoy their enhanced look for up to six months with Restylane®. Longer-lasting results are possible with Radiesse®, which can last two to five years.
