Taut and creaseless skin can make you look and feel much younger. If you’re tired of seeing facial wrinkles and fine age lines, Botox injections may just be the perfect answer to your cosmetic needs. Because this treatment is completely non-surgical, it requires zero recovery time!

What Is Botox?

Botox is a chemical product derived from a bacterium. When injected in minuscule doses, it is found to substantially reduce wrinkles and fine lines by temporarily paralyzing the muscles that cause them.

Botox is quite safe and can be administered easily to a wide variety of people. Due to its rising popularity as a cosmetic procedure, Botox is highly sought after by people all over the world.

How the Botox Procedure Is Performed

You may be asked to avoid alcohol a day before the Botox treatment and to refrain from taking anti- inflammatory drugs a few weeks before treatment.

To start the procedure, a saline solution of the chemical powder is prepared. It is placed into a syringe with a very fine needle. Because the needle is so fine, the procedure is not painful and typically does not require any sort of anesthesia (though topical numbing cream can be requested.)

After the target sites are marked and any numbing has taken place, the Botox is injected into the targeted areas of the face. You can opt to have Botox in vertical frown lines between the eyes, crow’s feet, radial lip lines, chin dimples, horizontal forehead wrinkles, and nose lines. It can also be used to treat harsh vertical neck bands.

The Botox procedure takes only about 20 minutes to perform. Since it is a minimally invasive procedure where no scalpels are used and no tissue is removed, you can immediately resume normal activities – no downtime needed. It takes about one to five days for the treatment to show visible results.

After a Botox Treatment

Although recovery time is minimal, it is suggested that you do not rub the injection site for optimal results. Keep your body in an upright position for at least two hours after treatment. Avoid heat exposure and strenuous exercise for a day, and refrain from taking certain specified medications for at least one day.

Aside from these steps, the treatment requires little change in your daily schedule. This makes it an ideal option for busy professionals who are constantly on the go.

A minor degree of swelling and redness may be present but will subside on their own in a few days. The results of the Botox treatment can last up to four months, and touch-ups are available. Because the medicine works by temporarily paralyzing muscle movement, the wrinkles may reappear once muscles get activated.
